Diri National Scrabble Championship: Egbe thumbs up Gov for supporting all sports

Chief Executive Officer of Monimichelle Group, Ebi Egbe has given a pat on the back to Bayelsa State governor, Douye Diri for identifying and giving support to virtually all sporting activities.
Egbe said the governor’s decision to sponsor the just concluded Gov Diri National Scrabble Championship was laudable, even as he pointed out that Yenagoa is fast becoming the country’s Sporting capital.
“It is only a sports loving governor like Diri that would have a comprehensive package for sports. He has demonstrated this by sponsoring the just concluded national scrabble championship that attracted well over 300 scrabble players from different parts of the country. As we speak, Yenagoa is playing host to some of the nation’s athletes that are Tokyo bound. Diri deserves a pat on the back for what he is doing in sports. We hope his support for Bayelsa United would see the club land in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) next term,” Egbe said.
The maiden Gov Diri national scrabble championship ended on Sunday in Yenagoa with home boy Avwenagha winning the N500,000 star prize and a trophy in the Masters while Raji Kazeem of Oyo State won the Intermediate category.
Tariye Alari (Bayelsa) was winner in the Opens, Engr. Ojior Osikhena of Edo State won the Veterans.
The students category was won by 16-year-old Ikoko David of Federal Government College, Odi in Bayelsa State.
Others who won best female in different categories were Tuoyo Mayuku, Akpos Malafakumo and Priscillia Akhabue.
