The Imo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Ruby Emele, has applauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his giant strides in transforming the state into a modern society through his massive infrastructural development.
Hon. Emele who made her feeling public when she played host to League of Senior Journalists who paid her a courtesy visit in her office, Thursday underscored the governor’s remarkable imprints on massive road revolution, power/electricity, security and other intangibles.
According to her, Senator Uzodimma has redeemed his name, ‘Uzodimma’ by the number of intra-city and interstate roads he has reconstructed or rehabilitated since assumption of office.
She remarked that despite coming close to the end of his second term, the governor has continued to work relentlessly in uplifting the state as if he is still in his first term of office.
Her words, “Thank you sincerely for your support to the 3R Administration and His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma who has lived out his name ‘Uzodimma’ because ‘Uzo adila mma.’
“I want to thank you so much. I have special regard for the 4th Estate of the Realm because you shape the society. Your job is very important, that’s why I don’t joke with journalists.
“In fact, the governor is working to transform Imo State into what we see in places like Lagos and Abuja with quality amenities like good roads. Quality infrastructure like good roads are things that create enabling environment for private sector to thrive. Good roads boost commerce, transport and good health of both humans and vehicles.
“Another wonderful one the Governor is doing is in the area of power/electricity to ensure that we have alternative to the national grid. We thank God, the whole thing has started to work. It’s moving stage by stage. New Owerri now has power and gradually it will trickle down to the local government areas.
“So it can only be somebody that means we’ll for the people that strives to do all these. In some other sectors too, like human capital development and some other intangibles. He has ensured that Imo is respected at the national level.
“It’s rare to see somebody who is in his second term working as if he is in the first term. That is finishing strong. He is ready to work till the last day in order to see how this state can look like the ones I mentioned earlier.”
The Commissioner prayed God to sustain the governor as he is about to finish strong pointing out that Imo will need a governor that can sustain the legacies of the 3R Administration when Uzodimma leaves office.
Commenting on her role in the administration, Hon Emele said, “My understanding of public service is to add value, provide listening ears to the people, solve problems etc. To me it’s all about service to God and humanity.”
