YSFON/ Ilaji Hotels & Suites U-16 tournament kicks off in grand style

The maiden edition of YSFON/Ilaji Hotels and sports resorts U-16 boys championship kicked off on Tuesday, 28th November at Ilaji Stadium, Ilaji, Ibadan, Oyo State
The tournament involving a total of 12 teams was declared open by the sponsor/ CEO of Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort Center, Engr Dotun Sanusi who was represented by the Chief Operating Officer of the Hotel Prince Adesina Araoye accompanied by scouts led by Dr. Justin Fenich, President,SwieQi United F.C, Timothy Gingell ,C.E.O,SwieQi United F.C, Saviour Darmanin, Assistant Technical Director SwieQi FC, Henry Ekezie,club scout SwieQi FC and Architect,Etienne Fenech consultant,SwieQi FC.
Also those on ground to witness the opening match was the Oyo State Comissioner for Youths and Sports Wosilat Adegoke, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs,Oladipupo Olubukola and the Facilities Director, Rain Fatai.
In the opening match, the host,Ilaji, FC walloped thier counterpart from,Ondo state 7-0 to grab the three points at stake.
Earlier in his welcome address which was delivered by the Secretary General of YSFON, Patrick Okpavuerhe, the National President of YSFON ,Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna commended the sponsor for identifying with grassroots sports development particularly at this time when the youths are embracing all sorts of illegal activities and crime just as he urged all the teams to maintain discipline and spirit of fair play throughout the duration of the weeklong tournament.
In his words, sponsor of the tournament, Engr. Dapo Sanusi welcomed all the participating teams to Ilaji, which he described as home of youths sports development.
He commended YSFON for collaborating with his organization to make this make the championship see the light of the day, promising to make it an annual tournament. 
Meanwhile hostilities continues in the preliminary matches today and Thursday at the same venue while quarter- finals and semi- finals will be decided on Friday with the finals coming up on Saturday, December, 2 at the ilaji stadium
