Edo, Bayelsa, others shine at DSP Kickboxing championship

Edo state has won the 2nd edition of the Diamond Superstars Promotion Kickboxing Championship held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.
The state won 7 gold, 8 silver and 8 bronze medals to emerge victorious thereby dethroning Delta state that won the first edition.
Bayelsa state came second with 5 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze while the 3rd position went to Oyo state that won 3 gold and 3 bronze medals.
Loveth Patra Ekufu, USA-based Ngeria-born former National and World Kickboxing champion as well as former Mixed Martial Arts champion and a renowned National/ International referee of repute who bankrolled the championship gave kudos to all those who contributed in making the programme a success.
President of the Kickboxing Federation of Nigeria (KBFN), Wilson Gabriel Okon while commenting on the championship, praised Loveth Patra Ekufu for remembering her root and charged other well meaning Nigerians to emulate her good gestures.
The president who just came back from Madagascar also commended the technical officials headed by Nelson Oluigbo for putting up a hitch free championship.
There was award of certificates and medals to the winners at the end of the event. Over Seventy kick-boxers drawn from various states and clubs across the country took part in the weeklong exercise.
