Ogunlewe highlights benefits of Sports Managers conference

A sports manager, Ademola Ogunlewe, Oluwaseun has described the just concluded conference of Nigeria Society For Sports Managers as impactful; saying that the two day conference took a holistic review of all aspect of sports management in the country ranging from facility/ stadium management, marketing, player management and all aspects of sports development, proffering solutions on how to move it forward.
” The two day conference which was held at the National Institute For sports (NIS) was very impactful and drew Professors, Doctors in the field of sports, Director of Sports in the academia, Federal and State Ministries of Sports and elite corps of sports experts who took a holistic look at sports management in the country.
” The key note address of the conference ” How to Maximize Potentials of Sports in Nigeria discussed all aspects of sports management and participants learnt a lot from it.
According to him, the conference also afforded participants the opportunity to look at how professionals can come into the mainstream of sports and try to move it forward.
” You know in Nigeria, we have facilities that are not well managed, issues with developmental policies, accountability issues and corruption amongst others and the conference discussed how professionals can come in and remedy the situation.
On how to make the country’s sports move forward, he stated that it’s important to start looking at issues from the grassroots and ways to draw up good policies that will move sports to a higher pedestal.
“It’s important to state that change is constant and we have to start looking at things from the grassroots as well as ways to draw up policies that will move sports forward.
” We shall not look at policies alone, we shall look at guidelines to implement those policies and that’s why it’s important to learn from the experts that have vast knowledge scattered all over our institutions”, he concluded.
