Electoral college: Key states confirm Biden’s victory

Presidential electors in all the states and US capital casted their votes on Monday to officially elect Joe Biden as the next president of the United States, a formality that officially concluded the 2020 election and effectively ended an unprecedented bid by Donald Trump to overturn the results.

Just as Biden’s electoral victory was being signed and sealed, Donald Trump’s Attorney General William Barr bared his mind declaring that he was tired of serving the lying American president as he threw in the towel.

Traditionally an afterthought, the meeting of the electoral college, no thanks to Trump’s mischief, took on added importance this year.

Despite an extraordinarily unsuccessful legal campaign to challenge the results in state and federal court, Trump has continued to claim without evidence that the vote was corrupted by fraud and irregularities.

It would be noted that William Barr, who was before now a staunch ally of Trump had after the US election dismissed Donald Trump’s claim of electoral irregularities as baseless allegations that have no evidence.

Trump apparently not impressed with Barr’s refusal to endorse his avalanche of lies had threatened to fire him, a situation that makes the Attorney General’s resignation on Monday not a surprise.
