Kofi Acquah 40th Birthday Scrabble Bash Sparks Excitement In Ghana

The Kofi Acquah 40th Birthday Scrabble Bash which holds this Saturday in Accra, Ghana has been generating some excitement across the country.

This appears to be as a result of the successful hosting of the 13th African Games where Scrabble made it’s first ever entry into a multi-sports event as a demonstration sport.

This development has sparked a flurry of activities and interest in scrabble in the West African country.

 

Top 37 jammers including World No. 8 Charles Tachie-Mensah, Stanley Ubiedi and a host of others will engage one another in the mind game contest.

2023 African Games women’s bronze medallist Betty Kyeremateng will also be in the mix at the one-day tournament.

A total of 9 rounds of games will be played at the Washi Gardens, Accra where winners will emerge in honour of Mr Acquah.


The United States of America based scrabble sponsor won the first edition of The Next King of Ghana national championship in 2021 and will be using his 40th birthday celebration to grow the popularity of the sport which is now in its ascendancy in the country.

Scrabble Association of Ghana’s (SCAG) Communication Committee huncho Williams Arhin while speaking on the plans for the fiesta said the excitement has attracting more enthusiasts based on thd fact that it’s coming up two months after the country played host to the rest of Africa in March.

‘Kofi Acquah 40th Birthday Scrabble Bash Tournament is going to be massive. The eyes of Africa will be on the tournament come May 25.’

Top five finishers will win cash prizes while the winner will also get a trophy.

Every participant will be presented with souvenirs.
