Kwara Utd crash out of CAF Confederation Cup

The hope of Kwara United progressing to the next qualifying round of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup came to an end Sunday evening at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta when they lost narrowly by 0-1 to Asante Kotoko of Ghana in the second leg of the qualifiers.
The Harmony boys who needed only a goal to scale through to the next round having lost the first leg by 4-3 in Accra could not match their Ghanian opponents space and tactical discipline which enabled them run away with a goal to advance to the next stage with a 5-3 aggregate.
Prior to the encounter, Kwara United gaffer, Tunde Sanni, had promised an attacking approach, but his side found it difficult to break down a compact Kotoko defence that absorbed pressure and depended on counter attack which paid off midway through the second half when a defensive blunder enabled the visitors to grab the only goal of the match
With this result, Asante Kotoko will now face Moroccan giants, Wydad Casablanca in the next round of the qualifiers
