Traders at the Ladipo Spare Parts Market are in for a lockout as the popular market has been sealed by the Lagos State Government on Sunday.
The government through the Commissioner for the Environment Tokunbo Wahab confirmed the closure of the popular market through his Facebook post on Sunday morning.
He accused the marketers of disposing their refuse indiscriminately on the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway median which created an unhealthy environment.
He further blamed the occupiers of the markets of illegal streets trading which are directly an affront on the state’s existing environmental laws.
“Lagos State government, this morning, sealed Ladipo Spare Parts Market along Murtala Muhammed International Airport Road (Apapa–Oshodi Expressway) over repeated environmental infractions; indiscriminate refuse disposal on the median/highway and illegal street trading.”
