Botswana set to host mega world wrestling championship

President of the Botswana ( Pro) Wrestling Federation, Dr. Moagi Sharp has announced that the Southern African country is preparing to host the biggest wrestling extravaganza in the continent towards the end of this year even as he announced that the Southern African WGW Heavyweight title will be at stake at the event.
According to him, the mega championship slated for Francistown and Gaborone will be used to announce the arrival of Botswana’s wrestlers in the world of mats man game promising that the competition will serve as a litmus test for other African countries to move the game forward.
“We are indeed ready to host the world of professional wrestling. What will happen in Francistown and Gaborone has never happened before in the history of any nation in Africa. I know that many world rated professional wrestlers have toured Africa over the years but no African nation has witnessed the caliber of wrestling gladiators that will storm the shores of Botswana at the end of this year.
” When you have talents like Senza Volto, Bad Bones,Savio Vega, La Rosa Negra, Danny Limelight, Ju Dizz, Super Mex Hernandez, Orlando Jordan, The Atocity kruel, Mighty Manquilla and the team leader Nick Cara himself, then be expecting the best of grunt and groan gimmicks and maneuvers from these world rated grapplers. We are indeed ready to host the world”, he assured.
Also speaking about the championship, Nick Cara, the leader of the team vowed that Botswana fans will have a memorable end of the year fun as they will witness the best of pro wrestling in the country.
“We have plans to bring the best world rated grapplers to Botswana at the end of the year. We have reached out to the best fighters. Our ultimate plan is to bring pro wrestling activities to the door steps of Southern African wrestling fans
He however solicited for support of the Botswana Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Cultural Development and the Botswana Government so as to have a great and hitch free championship.
“We cannot hold this kind of mega event all alone A lot is needed to bring the world to Botswana so we need sincere support of the Botswana government which will be well appreciated; as local and international sponsors are still needed.
“Although 242 Energy Vodka is our main sponsor but more sponsors are still welcomed in the Silver, Gold and Platinum categories” Nick added.
The organisers also announced that the timely event would also be used to campaign against the use and abuse of drugs by the teeming youths of Botswana and other neighbouring nations.
“There will be the WGW Battle of The Gladiators T-shirts as well as the official “SAY NO TO DRUGS” T-shirts which will be on sale from June 2023 at the rate of $35 per T-shirt and $5 out of the T-shirt funds raised would be donated to the Drugs Rehabilitation Foundation that Dr. Moagi Sharp would facilitate”, they explained
The Republic of Botswana is a country of slightly over 2.5 million people and one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. It is essentially the nation state of the Tswana, who make up 79% of the population. About 11.6 percent of the population lives in the capital and largest city, Gaborone. Formerly one of the world’s poorest countries;with a GDP per capita of about US$70 per year in the late 1960, it has since transformed itself into an upper-middle-income country, with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies and this has attracted many world business minded investors.
The country is also a member of the
Southern African Development Community (SADC), comprising 16 Member States; Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini formerly Swaziland, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Though not all the listed African nations have pro wrestling talents to showcase but those that have and qualified would be featured at the two arenas among the toughest and the roughest in the pro wrestling business” Moagi concluded.
