In appreciation of his good gesture towards sport development, All Stars Football Group has presented the Chairman of the Oyo State Chapter of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control, Hon. Gbenga Opaleye, with a distinguished medal of Honour for his contribution to sports in Oyo State.
The group also named the former caretaker chairman of Ibadan South/West Local Government as a patron of the football side on Saturday, the 1st of November, 2025, during a four-team invitational tournament played at the football pitch of Loyola College, Old Ife Road, Ibadan.
Opeleye, while responding, pledged his continuous support for football despite being a boxing official and enthusiast; saying that he believes in the importance of fostering talent in all sports disciplines.
He emphasized the need for collaboration among different sporting communities to uplift the youth and promote a healthy lifestyle through athletics.
Another personality honored alongside Opaleye was a media practitioner and Yoruba sports presenter with Splash FM Ibadan, Alhaji Olawale Hamzat, who also received a medal of honour for his constant support to grassroots football in Ibadan, especially the All Sports Stars football group.
