LSFA Holds Saturday Football Fiesta

...organises Boys, Girls Training/Mentorship

 

 

In continuation of its impressive strides to reposition football in the state, Lagos State Football Association, is organising a two-in-one football programmes tagged ‘Saturday Football Fiesta’, for young boys and girls, on Saturday, August 10th, 2024 between 7am-10am, at the prestigious Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.

 

The first event of the day, which is a FIFA Talent Development Scheme, is a collaboration with Nigeria Football Federation, slated to hold 7am-7pm, and with the duo of NFF Technical Director, Austin Eguavoen and the Scheme Director, Nasiru Jibril, acting as mentors.

 

This event is expected to be followed quickly by the girls programme, aptly themed, ‘It’s Time For Girls’.

 

According to a statement by LSFA, this programme aims to provide a platform for female players, coaches, and referees to develop their skills, share experiences, and connect with industry professionals. The one -day event will include a mini tournament for girls between the ages of 6-17 years and also feature training sessions, workshops, and mentorship opportunities, all focused on promoting gender equality and growth in football.

 

Speaking on the programme, Chairman of the Female Football Development Committee, Mrs. Raliat Abdulsalam said, “We’re committed to creating opportunities for women and girls to succeed in football.”

 

“This program is just the beginning of our efforts to foster a supportive community and promote female participation in the sport. Join us on August 10th, as we take the first step towards a brighter future for women in football,” she added.

 

In a related development, Austin Eguavoen and Nasiru Jibril are expected to arrive Lagos, on Friday, and depart Sunday, after the epochal event.
