Madumere resignation:Trouble looms in Imo APC

There are indications of serious problems likely to threaten the unity of purpose of Imo State All Progressives Congress, APC following the outcome of their recently concluded wards, local government areas and State congresses even as, His Excellency Prince Eze Madumere,(Ike Imo) resigned from the political party with
immediate effect.

The resignation of Prince Madumere, a 2027 governorship hopeful and one time Deputy Governor of the State under the Rescue Mission administration of Owelle Rochas Okorocha is causing serious ripples within the political party, in view of his political clouts and fellowership.

Madumere’s personally signed resignation letter dated 17/03/2026 and made available to news men in Owerri on Thursday, 26th March 2026 was addressed to, the Ward Chairman, All Progressives Congress, (APC) Ezinihitte Mbieri, Mbaitoli LGA, Imo State titled Notification Of Resignation From All Progressives Congress, APC.

According to Madumere, “I write, to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership of the All Progressives Congress, APC effective immediately.

“The decision, though difficult, has become necessary after a deep personal reflections on my political journey with the party, I sincerely felt it’s time for me to explore new paths.

“It’s my uttermost desire and expectation that, we all continue to maintain the cordial relationship that we have built together over the years, in our collective desire to build a better Nigeria” he pleaded.

The question on the lips of political pundits and analysts in the State is, which of the opposition political parties is Madumere most likely to pitch his political tent ?. For now the answer is likened to a mirage, but however, the former Deputy Governor of Imo State will certainly play a frontline political game in the forthcoming political dispensation.
