Nasarawa State Sports Commissioner, Ango thumbs up ministry’s PR unit over excellent reportage
Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nasarawa State, Hon. Jafaru Ango (Marafan Yakanaje Uke) has felicitated with the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit in recognition of its exceptional contributions to the promotion of the Organization’s activities and the Governor Abdullahi Sule-led administration.
Ango stated this when he played host to Staff of the Unit in his office on Monday in Lafia.
According to him, “the outstanding dedication to providing constant, comprehensive reportage and promotion of activities of the Organization carried by various mediums, including online, electronic and print, is heartwarming and commendable by any reasonable individual in the society.
“To be sincere, for the few days I have been here, from the bottom of my heart, I appreciate the work of the Public Relations Office.
“I take my time to read what you are dishing out. I love reading a lot…I don’t just flip through…I must say you are doing a wonderful job.
“If God will spare my life after this Ministry, wherever God will take me to, I will still work with you – this is a promise, because I want to see a young man who is educative, informative, straightforward and a professional on the job.
“I also love the fact that you are grooming others in the job, which means whenever you get to a higher position, you would also help to lift others to succeed. I am impressed with this attitude because I know not everybody wants to mentor others to succeed in life.
“I will interface with my good brother, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Barrister Isaac Danladi to see how we can encourage the Unit and its Staff because information is power.
“No matter what you do, you need a good PR to announce you to the world.
“We need good publicity to tell the world what we are doing; what this administration is doing; what Nasarawa State and her people are doing to boost the confidence of prospective investors.
“Until you tell the world what you are doing or what you have, the world will report you the way it wants to, which may not be favourable to you.
“So, let’s continue to tell our own stories to the world. Let’s market our products so that people don’t generate negative stories about us.”
In his remarks, Head of the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit, Eche Amos, thanked the Commissioner for hosting Staff of the Unit, describing it as historic.
“We are grateful to you for giving us this rare opportunity to familiarize with us.
“Indeed, the Media plays vital roles in the growth and development of any individual or organization, regardless of the status.
“Our job here is to project this Ministry and its Staff in the best perspective before the world, and this is a task we have been carrying out passionately.
“Even though the task of Public Relations is humongous, because it requires a lot, we are still working within our available resources to ensure the Ministry, Staff, Government and the people are well-informed and well-publicised.
“Today, we have some additional hands in the Unit who are making the job easier, and like we have done for your predecessors and entire Staff of the Organisation, we shall equally ensure we give you adequate publicity and feed the audience with up-to-date information on unfoldings in the Ministry.
“The audience ought to know what Government is doing through the Ministry, which brings the issue of transparency and accountability, and we are also willing to report feedbacks to the Ministry for the attainment of the mandate of the Organisation’s establishment.
“On that note, we welcome you, once again, to the Ministry, and wish you a happy leadership.”
In his vote-of-thanks, Eyibo Baba-Ojingwo applauded the Commissioner for creating such a setting to deliberate on the way forward for the Ministry.
He said the Public Relations Unit looked forward to working with the Commissioner as a team to give good image to the Organisation, its Staff and State in general.
