Minister of State For Industry, lights up Calabar Carnival
..Expresses joy at it's sustainability
The Honourable Minister of State For Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh has expressed happiness at the sustainability of the annual Calabar Carnival, noting that the cultural show has not only helped in promoting the country’s tourism industry but has also contributed in the economic development of the country.
The largest street party in the country was flagged off on December , 26, 2024 by the Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Bassey Otu .
The Festival which attracted participants from about 18 states of the Federation and all the Local Government Areas in Cross River State is a fusion of music, dance, culture, and innovation, with jaw-dropping parades, exhilarating performances, and creative brand experiences that will captivate thousands of local and international visitors.
Speaking at the festival, The Minister noted that it has helped in.putting Nigeria in the tourism map of the world as it attracts tourist from across the globe who come to have fun, relax as well as have a feel of the rich cultural heritage of the state and Nigeria at large and in the process, boost the economy of the country
” I’m happy with what the carnival has achieved since inception. Apart from exposing Nigeria’s rich cultures to the world, the annual Carnival and Festivals, also offers an avenue for businesses and industries to leverage on.
” It equally attracts tourists from all over the world who come to have a feel of the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria and the hospitality of the host state and in the process improve the economy of the country and as such we must continue to support it”, stated the Minister.
Earlier while declaring the festival open, the Governor stated that this year’s carnival tagged, “Our Shared Prosperity” is an exceptional celebration of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage noting that the state is thrilled to present an even greater array of activities, as we come together to celebrate “Our Shared Prosperity.”
Known as Africa’s largest cultural celebration, the festival is a vibrant showcase of art, music, dance, and diversity, attracting thousands of participants and visitors worldwide.
The festival which was flagged off on December 26 will be rounded up on December 31,2024.
