Hart of Gold partners Nigerian Police, donates sports materials to Zone 2

As part of its efforts to enhance the sport potentials of members of the Nigerian Police Force, Hart of Gold Nigeria Limited, a trading company based in Mushin, Lagos has donated some sport equipment to the Zone 2 headquarters of the Force.

Making the presentation, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chidozie Chigbo said his love for the Police and sports made him donate the materials noting that as a philanthropist and patriotic Nigerian, he quite appreciates the good work Police men and women are doing in the society especially in the area of crime detection, prevention and control.

“As a patriotic Nigerian who loves this country and believes in its unity, I quite appreciate the sacrifices our Police men and women are making in keeping the country safe from criminal elements and I believe that apart from policing the country, the Force boosts of talented sports men and women who have won and continue to win laurels for the country and should be encouraged.

Chigbo who said that the donation will be a continuous exercise explained that his company has in the past donated some relief items to some Orphanages and Motherless Baby homes as part of its policy of identifying with the less privileged members of the society.

“At Hart of Gold, we believe in philanthropy and that’s why the donation will be a continuous one.  The AIG has just told us about the forthcoming World Police Games and we’re going to partner with the Force to ensure they represent the country well at the Games. It will also interest you to know that every 2nd January of each year, we give out relief materials to SOS village Isolo, Motherless Babies Home, Ilupeju and many others and we shall continue to do that”, he stressed.

Receiving the items in his office, Assistant Inspector General of Police in- charge of Zone 2, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo  expressed appreciation to the company; saying that the entire Police Force need such support in order to improve its sports department even as he appealed to other companies to emulate the donor.

In her remark, Deputy Commissioner of Police ‘A Department’ Yetunde. O. Longe noted that the items will spur men of the zonal command to win more laurels at the next Nigerian Police Games and other championships. She also expressed hope that if the zone can have more donors like Hart of Gold identifying with them, they will produce many champions in various sports.

Sports Officer of the zone, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mathias. P. Moses described the gesture as a welcome development promising that the items will be judiciously used.

DSP Moses who attributed the good showing of the zone in various Police Games to hard work, good training, team work and support from the Zonal High Command posited that they will continue to do more towards promoting sports in the zonal command.

The event attracted all the Police sports coaches from the zone.
