NPFL: Newly elected House of Rep member-elect, Adams may face prosecution over assault on Ref

Newly elected House of Rep member-elect, Ekene Adams may face prosecution in the law court, no thanks to a decision of the nation’s football league governing body, IMC.

Adams who won a federal House of Representatives seat in Kaduna is the General Manager of Remo Stars.

Adams was last weekend allegedly identified as one of those who assaulted the Centre referee in the match involving Remo Stars and Gombe United with the IMC ordering for his prosecution in the law court.

The IMC verdict released today reads in part…”For breach of Rules C.11, three points and three goals was ordered to be deducted from the total points and goals accrued to the club for the assault on the match official while Mr. Ekene Adams identified as the attacker has been banned from all NPFL activities for the rest of the season. 

Remo Stars is also to ensure diligent prosecution in the law court, of Mr. Adams who is the Club’s General Manager.”

Remo however has 48 hours to either accept or appeal the IMC decision.

“Remo Stars was reminded that in

accordance with Rule C.26, that it is required in writing within 48 hours of the date of the notice, to submit to the ruling of the IMC or elect to appear before a Disciplinary Panel,” IMC stated in its decision.
