‎By Everest Ezihe, Owerri

‎Lady Uchenna Onwenu,a vulnerable orphan and mother of 3 has cried out to  Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Federal republic of Nigeria, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, the Inspector General of Police, Human Right groups, the media and members of the public for what she described as “transverse of justice” metted on her by Imo State government (IMSG) through the State Police Command that unjustly razed down her multi million Naira ancestral building complex.

‎Onwenu who hails from Umuezikeoha village in Uba Umuakah autonomous community in  Njaba Local Government area of Imo State is a United Kingdom, trained medical worker but physically challenged for over 5 years now due to protracted COVID-19 that made her to be in coma for months.

‎The vulnerable orphan and breadwinner who addressed Journalists in Owerri , Imo State capital on Friday via WhatsApp from her London base disclosed that the ugly incident happened on a Monday morning August 18, 2025  as men of Tiger Base, a unit in Imo State Police Command led by ACP Oladimeji Adeyeyiwa, in a commando like operation came into the ancestral compound, shooting sporadically saying that they were looking for one Mr. Chidi Onwenu who’s her step brother  for an alleged involvement in cult activities and Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB inimical membership activities.

‎According to her, “It’s was on the 18th of August, 2025 around 9 am that truck load of security men from Tiger Base,  stormed my ancestral compound and set ablaze my duplex and everything therein, claiming that they were sent by the Imo State government  alleging that Mr. Chidi Onwenu, who’s my step brother is a suspected member of a cult group as well as  a member of Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, that he resides in my house, which is not true.

‎ “Though Chidi is my step brother, he and his family have never lived in that house. He has nothing in that house. He has no access to the house. The building is my property, I bought the land and developed it with my hard earned sweat, sufferings, sacrifices, loans and grants.

“Chidi never contributed anything for the building. Why then,  must I bear the brunt of supposedly another man’s headache ? Why should I be the sacrificial lamb of gross injustice ? Why ?

‎”Imo State government,  what then is my personal offence that you directed that my ancestral home should be set ablaze and destroyed ? Imo State government and her security agencies cannot feign ignorance of not being in the know, where the boy is living.

“Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma’, Imo State security agencies, what have I done to warrant burning down the ancestral housing complex I built with my sweat ?” She sorrowfully cried out.

‎Also sounding like somebody who’s depressed and in pains, she continued asking rhetorical questions, “why should Imo State government with their security agencies connive to render homeless an innocent person and her siblings ?.

‎”Am the first child of my father, late Mazi Sunday Onwenu and late Lolo Veronica Onwenu. Now myself, my children and siblings have been rendered homeless, as refugees in their ancestral land for an alleged sin of another person merely related to me as a step brother.

‎”Where lies the justice ? Most of the things in that multi million Naira duplex was burnt to ashes including vital documents. Am crying out for justice, Inspector General of Police, Human Right groups and the Presidency should please come to my aid.

‎”We have been unjustly subjected to emotional and psychological tortures. This transferred injustice by Imo State government under the watchful eyes of Governor Hope Uzodimma and the State security agencies against an innocent but vulnerable mother, an orphan is a height of rascality of injustice and deserved to be addressed with military dispatch.

‎”They have subjected the entire family into agonies of sorrows and pains, for an offence they never committed nor know anything about. Is Nigeria nay Imo State a place where injustice is transferable ? Am one person that believes so much on verification, my late parents are well known as patriots in my  community, Imo State and Nigeria at large.

‎” I have earned integrity and credibility in life both nationally and internationally. Imo State government and Nigeria Police Force, why this injustice to me and my family, despite all our humanitarian contributions to the upliftment of the community, State and Nigeria at large ? But why ?.

‎”You people have out of wickedness and flagrant disobedience to the nation’s and global laws subjected me and the family into persistent pains, depression and poverty, for committing no offense.

‎Onwenu whose vulnerability has to do with walking even though she has been booked for knee surgery in United Kingdom further informed that, “the Police said they were looking for a kidnapper, am not a kidnapper and no kidnapper lives in my house. The house is my house, I bought the land. I built the house. That’s where I buried my dad and mum. Me, my children, siblings and  their children wants to come home for Christmas.

‎”Where will they stay ? This is a pertinent question I continue to receive every now and then. Please Imo State government, I need quick justice. Am passionately appealing to the Inspector General of Police, the Presidency, human right activists, religious leaders, men of good conscience, the media and the general public to intervene, and ensure I received earliest but quickest justice.

‎”Honestly, am being dehumanized and unjustly treated in my father’s country for committing no offense. Is it because am a woman, orphan and vulnerable mother ? The truth is that, am in pains, suffering depression for something I don’t know. Since that incident, we’re on daily basis living with bread of sorrows.

‎”Who ever they are looking for is not in that house, they know where he is staying, they can not claim ignorance of where he’s staying. Never” she stated.

‎Onwenu further demanded, “I need my house to be fixed and they’re still coming there, I  mean the Tiger Base Police unit. I don’t know why they are still coming there ? What they did was a transfer of injustice to a patriotic Nigerian. Am crying out to the entire world to help and ensure that this inhuman injustice is addressed, so that they can quickly rebuild my ancestral house and pay for all the properties they unjustly damaged, that’s all am asking for.

‎She emphatically pointed out that, “It was on Monday 18th of August, 2025 by 9 am, I am a living witness to what happened on that fateful day. A battle ready Joint Security Task Force, claiming that they are from Tiger Base Imo State Police Command, in a commando likened operations started shooting sporadically into the thin air.

‎She also reiterated that the actions of the security men on that fateful day further complicated her health status as she said she fidgeted and entered into temporarily forced coma.

‎According the victim, “they smashed the building glass windows and instantly set the entire building complex ablaze. This ignited confusion, satisfied that enough havoc have been wrecked on the building they hurriedly left while continuing the scaring shootings as they speedily moved out” she reported.
