National Africa Skate Ball Championship Ends In Lagos
. As Inventor Appeals For Corporate Sponsorship


The second edition of the annual National Africa Skate Ball Championship has ended in Lagos with fans and organizers hailing the competition.

eld in 2011, this year’s championship which took place Saturday, December , 6, 2025, at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos involved four states namely; Lagos, Kwara, Edo and Imo States whose players of all ages, showed a good mastery of the sports, an initiative of Kingsley Kedron Nkisa, A.K.A King of skaters and founder of Big Heart Skating Club.
Speaking after the entertaining finals, Chairman of Lagos State Roller Sports Association, Philip Oyede said that the state is happy that many years after the first national championship was held, the second edition came up after much planning and commended the initiator of the sports for his foresight in inventing the game.
” We at Lagos State Rollers Sports Association and the Federation are happy that the championship eventually came up after much planning and we give Glory to God that we’were able to achieve success at the end of the day.
” It’s equally important for you to know that this is an effort of one man and we have to give him all the support and encouragement to succeed in moving the game forward and am highly impressed with the performance of the players”, he stressed.
Also speaking, Coach of
Wonderous Move Skaters Concept ( WMS), Nwankwo Chidozie Emmanuel expressed happiness that the game has become a reality and the players did their best with an appeal to parents to encourage their children to take to the sports and corporate organizations to sponsor some of their programmes.
” I’m highly excited that the championship was a huge success and the players were able to exhibit good knowledge of the game.
” I am appealing to parents to encourage their children to take to skating because what we’re doing is to take the youths out of the streets and reduce crime in the society.
“There’s also need for corporate organizations to help us move the game forward by sponsoring some of our programmes which will help in keeping the youths busy and out of crime and other social vices.
In his remarks, initiator of the game, Kingsley Kedron Nkisa described the game as a team sport that originated from Nigeria and being introduced to Africa.
He said that the beauty of the game is that it is played with roller skates and it builds stamina, endurance and artistical movement.
According to him, the game which is his brainchild, started in 2011when they had the first national championship with Emzor Paracetamol as the title sponsor just as he expressed happiness that they were able to organize the second edition after many years.
“This is a dream I have been waiting for a very long time and am happy that the second edition attracted players from states of various geopolitical zones of the country namely; Lagos, Kwara, Edo and Imo States.
” I’m equally impressed because the players showed a good account of themselves and followed instructions of their coaches and clubs.This shows that we’re really moving on and we hope to improve more and make the players get more acquainted with the rules and regulations of the game.
Kedron Nkisa also emphasized on the need for corporate organizations to invest in the sports so that it can grow bigger
” I want to make a special appeal to corporate Nigeria to invest in this sports to make it bigger. Right now, the game has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and Ministry of Commerce. It has also been adopted by Roller Skating Federation of Nigeria and Lagos State Roller Sports Association and so, corporate organizations coming in will be a big boost to the sports as well as serve as empowerment for the youths”, he explained.
He particularly expressed his gratitude to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Grassroots Sports, Hon. Adebanji Adeoye Atewogboye for his financial assistance which made the championship possible.
” I want to specially thank the SSA on grassroots Sports to Governor of Lagos State for his financial support which made this championship possible. And to also appeal to other top government officials and philanthropists to emulate him so that we can move the game to higher pedestal”, he concluded
Meanwhile after many highly explosive and entertaining games to the delight of the fans and invited guests, Edo State emerged the overall winners of the championship.
At the end of the day, all the players went home with cash prizes.
