Anna Ring Marshal set to address Nigerian professional wrestlers

By Ifeanyi Eduzor

Houston Texas United States of America based sensational wrestler, Princess Anna Igelenya has concluded plans to meet with Nigeria professional wrestlers to chart a new course for the mats man game in the country.
According to the former Nigeria Pro- Wrestling Federation (NPWF) Women’s Champion popularly known as Anna Ring Marshal in wrestling circles, the meeting is scheduled to hold on Tuesday January 10th, 2023 at the wrestling training arena, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Marshal who reigned supreme in the 80s and 90s by dominating the Nigerian women fold on professional wrestling felt that there is nothing than giving back to the society which has made you what you are today.
In her words: ‘’The fulfilling feeling of giving back and contributing to society is unparalleled. Giving back is also a great way to get to know your community and its citizens better.
“We were once there as champions, we left for greener pastures abroad which is not a bad idea. Whenever we have the opportunity to meet with the rave of the moment on pro- wrestling scenes now, we would not shy away from doing so.’’

Bella Ogunlana, Bolaji Idowu, Bloody Magnet, Temitayo Adepoju and Julie Beauty were the first sets of female Nigerian talents of the 70s before Anna Ring Marshal, Yinka Queen of the Ring, Bisi Young, Flora Hit, Tina Terror, Lizzy Black, MaryArthur, Chika Warrior, Baby Joe, Sensational Lovettte, Killer Stacy and Tessy Dee came on board and proved their skills in the late 80s and in the 90s.
It was in the late 90s that we have cream-la-cream of Ijei White, Precious Lady and Easy-does-it who kept some form of ‘’Modern Day’’ wrestling alive then before the likes of Iron Lady Becky, Lady Bunmi while we have Stylish J, Triple J, Alexandra De Queen, De Blaze, Vincky Clairs and Dollar Lady as the current happening ‘’wrestling gals’’.

It’s important to note that Marshall must have taught it wise that there is no better time to meet with and discuss a way forward with her colleagues in the grunt and groan game than now; a festive period since she left the country in early 2000. Though she had come home severally but not to the point of calling for a meeting to address issues of moving pro-wrestling forward.
