Newstap/ SWAN Five Star Award of Recognition Excites Ladipo
President General of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Ladipo has expressed happiness with organizers of the annual Newstap/ Five Star Award for founding him worthy to be nominated for an award of recognition.
Ladipo was nominated for the award based on his numerous service to the supporters club and the country spanning over 50 years.
Speaking on the nomination, Ladipo who was recently elected as Patron of Confederation of African Sports Supporters ( CASS), described his nomination as a testament of his good services to the nation, noting that he will continue to ensure the Nigeria Football Supporters Club maintain its leadership position as the best Supporters Club in the world as was confirmed by both FIFA and CAF.
” I’m highly excited with the nomination coming from a leading online platform, Newstap Communication and SWAN, the umbrella body of sports writers in the country
” To me this award is a testament that Nigerians recognize my sacrifices in seeing that the Supporters Club give our national teams maximum support for them to do well in major competitions and I will not rekent in that effort”, he stated.
The Newstap/ SWAN Five Star Sports Award was instituted to honour five eminent Nigerians and corporate bodies who have contributed immensely to the development of sports in the country.
Those to be honoured during the second edition of the prestigious award Include Bayelsa State Governor Senator Douye Diri, NIS DG/ CEO Rt. Honourable Comrade Philip Shaibu, MD/ CEO Nilayo Sports Management Company Ltd Mrs. Yetunde Olopade, Club owner Chief Robert Onyeani and Internationally acclaimed boxing promoter Honourable Omonlei Yakubu Imadu.
The event comes up on Friday, March 6, 2025 at the Blessing Hall of the prestigious Eko Club, off Bode Thomas Street Surulere, Lagos.
