NFF election: PFAN faults soccer governing body on choice of Malik

By George Aluo

The September 30 NFF election billed for Benin, Edo State is facing a fresh challenge courtesy of Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN).

PFAN in a release signed by her Deputy General Secretary, Edema Fuludu faulted NFF’s choice of Anthony Malik, a SAN as the chairman of the electoral committee.

PFAN stated that the duo of Malik and Robinson Ariyo should not be part of the NFF electoral process on ethical grounds, even as they gave the duo 72 hours to resign.

PFAN’s statement reads in part…”The PFAN project 2022 taskforce has uncovered the concept of ‘I will not interfere but I will intervene’ and therefore ask the Chairman of the NFF Electoral Committee A.A Malik (SAN) to resign his appointment forthwith as a managing partner as well as Head of oil and gas and Dispute Resolution teams in the law firm of Alegeh & Co. Austin Alegeh (SAN) founding partner of Alegeh and Co is a personal lawyer and friend to Amaju Pinnick President of the NFF.

Secondly one Barrister Robinson Ariyo a member of the NFF electoral committee is a lawyer to the Warri Traditional Council and Amaju Pinnick’s Brother both of them should resign on the grounds of conflict of interest. This is unethical and therefore unacceptable.

They have 72 hours from the date of this publication to do so or the taskforce will Petition the appropriate authorities.”
