NFSC Congratulates Her Sports Ambassador, Shaibu, On Appointment As NIS Director-General

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) has congratulated the former Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Philip Shaibu on his appointment as the new Director General of the National Institute For Sport.

Speaking from Lagos on Saturday about the appointment, the National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC) Rev. (Amb) Samuel Ikpea described the appointment as a step taken in the right direction towards achieving the goal of promoting and developing Nigeria’s citadel of sport institution in the country.

“We received the news with joy and we are convinced that Shaibu will deliver” Ikpea started. “What the current President Tinubu administration saw in him before his appointment into this position was what we saw in him in 2017 when NFSC appointed him as their Sports Ambassador”.

“He has a proven track record going by his antecedent in the past. He helped revamp the Bendel Insurance which had gone into extinction and ensured they returned to the elite league in the country and also played a major role towards the success of the 20th National Sports Festival tagged Edo 2020” Ikpea further added.

“We are optimistic that this new role will be an opportunity for Nigeria’s foremost sport institution for learning to soar in area of infrastructure development, scientific and technical improvement as well as improving on the module which the founding fathers of the institution conceived before the NIS was founded” he concluded.

Recall that while Shaibu was in charge of sport in Edo State, the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium also got a face lift which made it become a comfortable home ground for Bendel Insurance, Edo Queens and also hosted several sporting event.
