SESC congratulates NFF on appointment of Chelle as Super Eagles Coach
…Promises to give him maximum support
Super Eagles Supporters Club has congratulated Nigerian Football Federation ( NFF) for it’s decision to appoint former Malian gaffer, Eric Sekou Chelle as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles; saying that it was a wise decision considering his experience, technical abilities and knowledge of African football.
The football house had on Tuesday, January, 7, 2025, announced the appointment of Chelle who won five caps for the Aiglons of Mali and coached clubs such as GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne and MC Oran and has been Head Coach of the Aiglons since 2022 as the coach to handle the country’s national team and the Supporters Club believes he has what it takes to not only qualify Nigeria for the 2028 World Cup but also put up a good performance in this year’s AFCON finals.
In a statement by the Club signed by the leader of the club Vincent Okumagba , the foremost Supporters Club in the country said that the NFF deserves commendation for it’s choice, describing it as a wise one even as he promised that the club under his leadership will give him all the necessary support to succeed.
“We at the Supporters Club are gladdened by the decision of NFF to appoint Chelle as the new coach of the Super Eagles and we have to commend them for that wise decision
“Chelle is not new to African football. He played the game at the highest level and won five caps for his country .
“It’s equally important to state that at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cote d’Ivoire, Chelle’s Mali came very close to a place in the semi-finals, losing to hosts and eventual winners Cote d’Ivoire 2-1 after extra time, which shows that he has what it takes to lead the star studded Super Eagles”, the club said.
Meanwhile, Okumagba has announced that the club’s Annual General Assembly will hold in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital in March this year during the Super Eagles World Cup qualifiers match with the club promising that it would mobilize more than ever before to ensure victory for the Super Eagles as they focus on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
