NGO organizes two-day free medical outreach for Ezemba community

The people of Umueze Ezemba Autonomous Community in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State have received free medical treatment courtesy an international non-governmental organization, NGO, Ezemba Kindness Foundation, EKF.
The two-day event featured free medical tests for high blood pressure, blood sugar, body weight, eye, malaria and typhoid fever, treatment and distribution of prescribed drugs.
Aged men, women, youths and children numbering over 4,000 from the community and neighbouring communities like Obiangwu, Umuohiagu, Logara and environs benefitted from the free medical outreach held at the palace of the traditional ruler of Umueze Ezemba Autonomous Community, HRH Eze Anthony Ekwe.
Declaring the event open, the host royal father, Eze Ekwe, commended the initiative and described the programme as one targeted to give back to the society in appreciation of divine blessings.
The elated monarch, who went down memory lane, recalled how his daughter, the principal of the NGO, Chinenye Blessing Horgan(Nee Ekwe) overwhelmed travails to become the shining light that Ezemba Community is enjoying today.
He admonished the people to take total advantage of the free medical outreach and told them to always trust and look up to God in every situation especially trying times stressing that nothing is impossible to God.
Eze Ekwe commended the NGO for identifying his community as a beneficiary of the gesture and urged the group to extend it to neighbouring communities in Ngor Okpala and the state at large.
Speaking earlier, leader of the foundation’s delegation, a reputable Australian registered nurse, Chinenye Blessing Horgan disclosed that the medical outreach is a token of the organization’s commitment to supporting the rural populace in Nigeria and Africa in general.
She promised to continue the exercise and make it a regular feature stressing that Nigerians especially the underprivileged need succour to enjoy quality life, like other people in the world.
Leader of the medical team, Dr Hyacinth Emele remarked that the exercise was exemplary as the organization provided surplus drugs and other items to ensure a seamless exercise despite the large population.
He posited that periodic free medical outreaches like this would complement efforts of government in providing quality health care to people in the rural areas.
Reacting, one of the beneficiaries, Okenze Kevin Ekeocha, commended the NGO for it’s magnanimity and prayed for sustenance of the programme in the coming years.
All the Nze, Chiefs, elders(Ichie) and other dignitaries of the community led by Chief Sir Fidelis C. Opara, National President of Onyeaghalanwanneya Communities Assembly, OCA, graced the august occasion.
