Nigeria Amputee Football President Paul Maduakor Hailed For Funding, Kitting Teams for Historic West Africa Para Games Debut
In a defining moment that reinforces Nigeria’s growing leadership in para sports, President of the Nigeria Amputee Football Federation (NAFF), Chief Paul Maduakor, has received widespread commendation for his instrumental role in ensuring the success of the inaugural West Africa Para Games held in Abeokuta.
Chief Maduakor, known for his proactive and inclusive leadership style, personally facilitated the participation of the Benin Republic Amputee Football Team by providing a $1,000 travel support grant, enabling them to attend their first-ever international competition.
In a powerful display of unity and continental solidarity, all participating teams; Nigeria, Benin Republic, and Cameroon were fully kitted with top-quality home-and-away jerseys and tracksuits provided through ProStar Sports International, whose mission to remain “The Pride of Africa” continues to shape its continental outreach, with the entire sponsorship made possible by Chief Paul Maduakor.
This gesture was widely celebrated as a symbol of Nigeria’s commitment to elevating para sports across the region. The support was further acknowledged by Mr. Usman Mustapha, President of Cameroon Amputee Football and Vice President of Amputee Football Africa, who praised the initiative as a milestone in regional cooperation.
The Benin delegation, led by Mr. Vincent Sayi, expressed deep gratitude for the warm hospitality and support they received in Nigeria, emphasizing how their debut experience was made possible by Maduakor’s generosity and Nigeria’s leadership.
“It is a great source of pride for Benin to participate in the West Africa Paralympic Games in Nigeria. We are deeply grateful to Nigeria Amputee Football President, Mr. Paul, and his team.
“Your support, guidance, and hospitality made our first international experience possible,” Sayi said.
He further commended CAAF Secretary General Mr. Peter Oloo and the organisers, describing the Games as “exceptional, educational, and unforgettable.”
