Nigeria Claims Two Silver As Africa Archery Championship ends in Cote d’Ivoire
Team Nigeria justified their participation at the just concluded Africa Senior Archery Championship in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire with two silver medals won in the men’s individual and men’s team Compound Bow categories.
Compatriot Aliyu Abubakar, one of Nigeria’s seasoned Archers of note, accounted for the individual silver through his command performance via accurate shots to register his name in the history books of African Archery victors while Nigeria’s second silver came from the men’s team event.
Both results guaranteed Nigeria’s second positions in both categories thus affirming the country’s archers rising prowess in the continent.
Nigerian Archers skill display, discipline and stand out performance throughout the duration of the weeklong championship was second to non coupled with their impressive on and off the court behaviour.
Reacting to the team’s performance at the 2025 African Senior Archery Championship, President of the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED), and leader of team Nigeria delegation,
His Royal Highness, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi applauded the team’s exceptional performance against all odds, noting that Nigeria’s medals haul would have been more than what we got if the country was able to register enough athletes for the championship.
It would be recalled that only Five Archers represented Nigeria at the Championship.
They include, Aliyu Abubakar Garga (team Captain)
Engr. Aliyu Abubakar, Damilola Sholademi that joined the team from the United States of America,
Alexander Harry-Erin and Ogunlana Seun Ibrahim the President, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi ( leader of delegation) and his Ist Vice, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu, were the only two officials that accompanied the team to Abidjan, Cote’Ivoire.
The team has since arrived the country.
Meanwhile, NAFED Ist Vice President, Ambassador Augustine Chigbolu has pleaded with corporate organizations and well meaning individuals to support the development of Archery sports in the country through cash and equipment donation.
