The stage is now set for the West Africa U-18 Baseball Regional Qualifiers which hits off in Lagos on Saturday 17 and runs through Sunday 18 August, 2024, at the National Institute for Sports, National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
Nigeria, Ghana, Tunisia and Benin Republic will play for the two available spot for the 2025 WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup.
Acting Secretary General of the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association, Mr Robert Onwukwe Antthony disclosed this in Lagos yesterday.
According to him, the four teams registered to slug it out in the tournament are already drawn to do battle in one group in a round robin format.
Tunisia on arriving Lagos ahead of the qualifiers
With the fixtures made available to us, Nigeria will set the ball rolling when she lock horns with her long time perennial rivals Ghana at 9 am tomorrow while Tunisia tackles Benin Republic at 10.30 am.
Nigeria will again return to the pitch to face Benin Republic at 1 pm for their second match of the day while Ghana faces Tunisia at 2.30 pm to round off day one activities.
Action will resume at 9 am on Sunday when Benin Republic engages Ghana while Nigeria sizes up Tunisia at 10.30 am in the supremacy contest that will round off preliminary activities that will pave way for the 3rd place match coming up at 1 pm ahead of the final billed for 2.30 pm.
The 2 top teams will advance to the WBSC African Youth baseball5 Continental Championship while
the 2 top teams from the Continental Championship will represent Africa at the WBSC Youth Baseball5 World Cup in 2025.
