Nigeria to host international shooting championship

By George Aluo

Shooting may be the first sports to host an international sports meet in the country post Covid-19, if the plans of the sports ministry are anything to go by.

Competent sources disclosed to newstap.com.ng that Sports minister Sunday Dare who last week inspected the nation’s shooting range in Abuja has assured the leadership of Nigeria Shooting Federation that he would support them to host an international shooting tournament later in the year.

According to our source, Dare wants to match words with action as far as his pledge to support the medal harvesting game is concerned.

It would be noted that the President of Nigeria Shooting Federation, Brig Gen Lonsdale Oladeji Adeoye (retd) was full of praise for Dare for visiting and inspecting the Abuja shooting range pointing out that he remains the only sports minister to have taken interest in the game.

Adeoye who alongside other stakeholders have been funding the game from their private resources said the minister’s support would propel him to do more.
