Nigerian boxers won’t disappoint at Olympic qualifiers – Coach Olaleyin

Coach of Nigeria boxing team at the just concluded 13th African Games in Ghana, Adura Olaleyin who is still basking in the euphoria of the team’s performance at the African version of the Olympics has expressed optimism that the country will pick more Olympic slot at the forthcoming qualifiers in Thailand.

Team Nigeria boxing at the African Games created a new record by winning 8 gold and 2 silver medals and Olaleyin believes the fighters are ready to go for the qualifiers.

” We already have three boxers that have qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics and we hope to pick more qualifications in Thailand”, began the American based coach whom himself is an Olympian

” Right now we’ve given the boxers some days rest and hopefully by the end of this week, I and the other coaches will start monitoring their training and probably invite them to camp ahead of the qualifiers.

On how Nigerian pugilists can replicate their performance in Ghana at the Olympics, he stated that early camping followed by training tour will go a long way in preparing the athletes adequately for the greatest global sporting event.

“I’ve been at the Olympics and with my experience, I know that early camping and adequate preparation is key to putting up a good performance at the Games.

” All we need to do is to organise local camping for the athletes followed with training tour where they can get adequate preparation and exposure ahead of the Games”, he stressed.

Olaleyin who gave God all the Glory for seeing his team through in Ghana, maintained that there will be no dull moment for his boxers at the qualifiers in Thailand as they’re already getting ready for the challenge.
