OKORONKWO CONGRATULATES HEARTLAND QUEENS ON NWFL SUPER SIX QUALIFICATION

Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo, the immediate past Commissioner for Sports, Youth and Social Development who has also been renominated and is a Commissioner-Designate has congratulated the management, technical crew, players, and supporters club of Heartland Queens of Owerri on the club’s qualification for the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership Super 6 play-off.

Heartland Queens in match day 13 beat Naija Ratels of Abuja 2-1 at the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri to clinch the much coveted ticket with a game to spare.

Hon. Okoronkwo made this known in a statement through his media team in Owerri. He congratulated the Imo state government led by Governor Hope Uzodimma and Heartland Queens Fc on the outstanding achievement in qualifying for the super six tournament for the first time.

“It is with great joy that I celebrate this remarkable accomplishment. The performances of the Owerri Landladies have been truly exceptional, but the success did not just come on a platter of gold, but through hardwork, dedication, and prayers of all concerned at the club with the aim of putting the club at the centre stage of football in Nigeria and beyond,” Okoronkwo stated.

“I thank our indefatigable governor, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma for his immense investment in the team and his passion for women and girl-child empowerment. The Coach Obi Ogbala led team promised him a super six ticket and they’ve kept their promise and I know that our governor will reward them and give them more support,” he further opined.

Hon. Emeka Okoronkwo charged Heartland Queens not to rest on their oars as they head to the super six play-off series to contest for the golden trophy and appealed to good spirited individuals and corporate entities to invest in the club as they will reap the dividends of supporting the Scientific Soccer Queens.
