NLO to host medical webinar for clubs

The Nationwide League One (NLO) will conduct a medical webinar for clubs in Division One and the U-19 Youth League, as part of preparations for the upcoming season.
The Pre-Competition Medical Assessment webinar is scheduled for Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. via Google Meet.
According to the NLO Secretariat, this medical webinar will allow the Medical Consultant to engage with all medical staff and team personnel.
Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo emphasises that medical examinations for players are essential and should adhere to international standards.
“The main aim of the webinar, which involves club medical staff and journalists, is for the Medical Consultant to provide detailed explanations.
“The process includes how to undergo comprehensive screening to detect underlying conditions, such as cardiovascular
issues.! It’s a standard, often mandatory, procedure for professional footballers before major competitions.
“We are adapting a technology app for Athlete Monitoring (EMR) electronically, this will be a medical history of the players and can be accessed online everywhere the players goes to further his carrier.
“This helps the NLO to document each player’s medical history, physical wellbeing using thr ECGs, and echocardiograms.
“In the long run, it aims to prevent sudden cardiac death and identify, injuries, or illnesses that could be aggravated by the sport.”
