Flaunting their phones with excitement, players of Akwa United and Sporting Lagos proudly showed their confirmation of the received Locker Room Bonus from Nigeria National League partner BetPawa on MatchDay One.
The bonus earned by winning teams has been creating a tingling effect on players and officials on an opening MatchDay marked with 14 home and two away wins.
Akwa United had registered a 2-0 win against Solution FC on their opening fixture of the new season.
The bonus alerts began hitting the players’ Momo account right after the match even before they left the stadium.
Beaming with smile and with air of surprises, they gladly waved their phones after the winning bonuses were disbursed promptly.
Similarly, Sporting Lagos stamped their access to the Betpawa bonus after securing a 3-1 victory against Osun United at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Members of the team eagerly displayed their phones with the alerts of 56,000 naira each while riding in their bus.
Same scenario was captured in Ogbomoso after Crown FC got 3-0 win over Heartland.
They were joined by Abia Comets, Godswill Akpabio United, Doma United, Inter Lagos, Ekiti United, Lobi Stars, ABS FC, Bichi First FC, Jigawa Golden Stars and Ranchers Bees who all recorded victories on their season’s opening day fixtures.
Basira FC were the first recipients of the bonus.
The bonus initiated by the George Aluo led-NNL board has been commended by many as it has been a perfect twin-strikes at boosting motivation for the team as well as easing the financial demands on club managements.
