Mr. Shakiru Giwa, the Head Coach of Inter Lagos FC has blamed inexperience among his youthful but energetic players as the cause of their 2-3 loss to Heartland FC of Owerri in their Match Day 4 of the Nigeria National League, ( NNL) played last Saturday at Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri.
Giwa disclosed this during an interview with Sports Journalists shortly after the well attended tension soaked match, but ironically, against the tactician lamentation, Emmanuel Amunike, the Technical Adviser of the Owerri based side, was of the view that their, “opponents were young, energetic and well to do.
“They really gave us serious challenge. You can see how they narrowed us down from 2-0 to 2-1 and then from 3-1 to 3-2.
“This is an indication that the team is good and determined. Interestingly, at the end of the day, we achieved our major desire of getting 3 points and plus 1 goal.
“Like I always say concerning the game of football, you cannot explain everything immediately, until you go back and review all that happened, thus, I can not say, we achieved our desire 100%. You plan your tactics to win your match and that’s exactly what we did” he affirmed.
Amunike also observed that his reflection about the game, is that they needed to win the match, as they were in dare need of elevation and positioning even as he described the game as good while further appreciating the dogged fighting spirits of his opponents.
Meanwhile, Giwa also pointed out that he has great respect for Heartland FC in view of the club’s historical exploits, and “as a massive team”.
The sweat merchant reiterated that his club equally learnt a lot from the game and have advanced plans to go to the drawing board, so as to rectify certain lapses ahead of their next match.
