NNL Match Day 4: Smart City Shoot down Sunshine Stars In Lagos

Smart City Fc of Lagos, Saturday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, put up a brilliant performance, capped with a commanding and well deserved 2-1 victory over hard fighting Sunshine Stars fc of Akure.
The game which was boldly contested by both teams, saw, City getting the first goal in the early minutes of the first half, through reliable captain, Tunde Ajedokun, whose cross caught sunshine keeper napping, to send City fans and faithfuls into wild jubilation and joy.
City, knew what they wanted and continued to pile pressure on their opponent and were duely rewarded with the second goal, as inform striker, Adeoti Ismail, made it 2-0, after driblling past two sunshine players, and placing the ball to the far right low corner of the net to further send their fans into wild jubilation.
All efforts by Sunshine Stars reduce the deficit before the end of the first half, proved abortive, as City stood their ground, taking a big lead into the break.
Smart City came back from the break with their tails up, and continued to fight for more goals in the second half to make sure they get a third goal, but the visitors, withstood all the pressure, while, also trying to catch the host on a counter attack.
However, they got their consolation goal in the late minutes of the game to end the game 2-1in favour of the host
Speaking on the victory, smart City Captain, Tunde Ajedokun, was full of joy, saying Sunshine Stars are a very good and experienced team.
“I want to thank Almighty God for this victory, it was a great one, because we played against a very good team, but we came with a game plan and it worked for us.
“We’ll continue to give our best to put smiles on the faces of our amiable Chairman, management and fans”, he said.
Up next for Smart city, is an away midweek clash against Crown fc of Ogbomosho, a game that promises to be a very tough one, as City will be looking to get a positive result from that NNL week five clash.
