Ahead of Pro- Wrestling inauguration, Benin Republic listed among 50 nations under AIWF
Ahead of today’s inauguration of professional wrestling in Benin Republic, the country has been listed among 50 nations under Allied Independent Wrestling Federations (AIWF) based in Mount Airy, North Carolina, United States.
Other countries listed under the AIWF includes; United States, Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Argentina, Peru, Chile, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala. Tunisia, South Africa, Togo, Congo, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and United Arab Emirates.
Others are; Pakistan, India, China, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, South Korea, Japan, Russia, Germany, Austria, Malta, Switzerland, England, Scotland and Norway.
Also in the list are Denmark, Sweden, Romania, Ukraine, San Marino, Belgium, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland and Australia.
According to a statement by Matt Classic, the Executive Director of AIWF, the body is impressed with the development and growth of professional wrestling in Benin Republic which qualifies it to be listed among the nations under the auspices of the world wrestling body.
Allied Independent Wrestling Federations which has affiliations with various regional promotions across the United States and around the world allowing for talent sharing and collaborative event was founded in 1991 by Frank “Slick” Johnson, with the goal of promoting independent professional wrestling. It is managed by Matt Classic Creed as the Executive Director.
The body’s recognized championships includes; AIWF World Heavyweight Championship, AIWF America’s Heavyweight Championship, AIWF World Women’s Championship and AIWF World Tag Team Championship.
It also host various events throughout the year, including, Weekly TV tapings,
Live shows, Pay-per-view events and
Charity events
Talents in AIWF features a mix of established veterans and up-and-coming talent, with a focus on showcasing local and regional wrestlers while it’s wrestling style is a blend of technical grappling, high-flying, and hard-hitting action, reflecting the diverse backgrounds of its talent.
The Federation also have an active presence on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, sharing updates, promotions, and event highlights.
Speaking on the development, Secretary General of Pro-Wrestling Africa, the organisation saddled with the promotion of wrestling in Africa Olusesan Olukoya who’s coordinating the Benin Republic inauguration says that the listing of Benin Republic in the AIWF is a sign of better things to happen in the French speaking country just as he assured that the country’s wrestlers will benefit immensely from the partnership as they will get adequate exposure and opportunity to meet with the best wrestlers around the world.
