NNL Super 8: Ikpeba Commends Aluo, says he’s happy to be part of tournament

Former Super Eagles player, Victor Ikpeba has heaped praises on the Chairman of Nigeria National League (NNL), Mr. George Aluo for inviting him and Nwankwo Kanu to the Super 8 tournament which he believes will serve as inspiration to the players

Ikpeba who performed the official kick off of the championship stated that as products of the country’s domestic football, their presence will make players see them as role models as well as encourage them to put in their best in the weeklong competition

” I want to commend the Chairman of NNL for extending invitation to myself and Nwankwo to be part of this tournament. There’s no doubt that our presence will encourage the players to put in their best in the competition “, he stressed.

” It’s equally important that I congratulate the NNL for doing a good job and in our own capacity as ex- internationals, we’ll continue to support them to.move the country’s football forward .

On his assessment of the matches, Ikpeba, popularly known as Prince of Monaco, noted that all the games were keenly contested and match officials lived up to expectation

“The games have been very interesting and the referees doing a great job. Although some decisions might not go down well with some coaches but I think it happens globally even in Europe that whenever, a team is losing, they’ll always look for excuses”, he said.
Ikpeba who was very excited that Warri Wolves won their second game by a wide margin, charged the team to avoid complacency in their last Group game on Thursday inorder to gain promotion to the top flight.
