Wrestling: Executioner plans to present belt to Gov. Soludo

African Wrestling Organization ( AWO) Light heavyweight champion, Angus Emeadi A.K.A ‘De Executioner’ is getting set to present his belt to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo CFR.
Emeadi a native of Ebenator, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State told our correspondent that even before the creation of the state on August, 27, 1991, it has produced and continue to produce talented sports men and women for the country and world beaters in wrestling positing that the title presentation is to thank the Governor for the good work he has been doing since becoming Governor of the state few months ago.
” Over the years, Anambra has produced great sports men and women and some of the brightest wrestlers for the country.
” We have wrestlers like late former world champion, Michael OKpala Alias Power Mike who hails from Nneni in Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nze Benneth Afulueke Okoye a.k.a Ben Lion Heart from Akpo, Aguata Local Government Area, Peter Udechukwu ( Action Man Tiger) from Nnewi South Local Government Area, Simon .O. Umeh ( Iron Saigon) former African tag team champion of the Iron brothers fame and Ifeanyi Nnatuanya ( De Lion Man) who passed away on December,, 19, 2010.
“I’ m planning to defend my title in honour of these great wrestlers and I have what it takes to defeat any challenger in my weight category.
‘ I’ m even supposed to have defended the title in the Central African country of Congo Brazzaville but I want to first present the belt to my governor for his fatherly advise, counsel and support as well as show
him what youths of the state are capable of doing before the title defense.
” I have plans to defend my title before my home fans in Awka, Onitsha or Nnewi but its important I first present the belt to the governor in appreciation of his supportive role to sports, community development, good governance and his efforts to make Anambra State the Taiwan of Africa”, said the stylish grapper.
Meanwhile, African Pro- Wrestling Organization said it is working round the clock for the successful title defense in Nigeria once there is clearance from the Anambra State Government.
According to the Secretary General of Nigeria Wrestling Board of Control ( NWB of C) Ralph Nwafor, the body is set to revolutionalise the mats man game and put it at par with that of Europe and America.
” We are set to change the narratives of professional wrestling in the continent and make it at par with what is happening in Europe and America. We’ve the talents here with good techniques, skills and gimmicks but basically what they’re lacking is adequate exposure which we’re currently taking care of.
” We have taken the African Pro-Wrestling to Benin Republic, Ghana, Togo, Cote d’ Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Angola, Cameroon and South Africa and since charity begins at home, it will be a great honour if Anambra State will host the title defense since Executioner could not travel to Congo Brazzaville for some vital reasons.
De Executioner was trained by Jimmy Coaster and Jimmy Palm in 1985 at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos and has been privelgded to wrestle in his country, Nigeria, Togo, Ghana, Benin Republic and South Africa and has faced the likes of Super Samson Kally, Mackson Jack, Henry Clinton, Flying Jack on Top, Busy Jet Fighter, Mr. Efficiency, Black Heritage, Mr. Sharp man, Stone Cooder and a host of others.
Angus who has paid his dues in the ring is looking forward to defend his title which he won on December, 19, 2020 after slugging it out with Sierra Leonean Ambadum popularly known as ‘De Shark’ a few minutes into their tough duel.
