Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was a die hard supporter of the round leather game and contributed immensely to the progress of the game in Anambra State and the Nation as well.

As the Chairman of the Anambra State FA, he instituted laudable grassroot programmes for the growth of the game including his pet project ‘1 Family, 1 Footballer’ aimed at encouraging kids across not just Anambra State but Nigeria and Africa to excel in the round leather game.

He was the proprietor of the defunct FC Ifeanyi Ubah which won the NEROS PHARM/Anambra FA Cup for four consecutive years from 2015 to 2018 and won the Federation Cup in 2016 and went on to play in the Continent.

He built the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in his home town of Nnewi where his team played its home matches.

“He was a man who spent his money for the growth of the game all over and sponsored a lot of soccer events upto the National level” said Vice Chairman of Anambra FA, Chief Victor Aniekwena.

“I was in Russia during the 2018 World Cup when he had the Africa launch of his pet project ‘1 Family, 1 Footballer’ and even FIFA President who was present was impressed.” Aniekwena added.

On his part, Board member and head of the Media Committee, Ralph Chidozie George said it will be hard to find another passionate lover of the game like Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.

“His passion for the game was amazing, simply unbelievable and I think it is going to be difficult to come by another Ifeanyi Ubah who spent freely to propagate the game.”
