NPFL: Rangers target maximum points against Lobi Stars

Rangers International of Enugu will be looking to stop high riding and table topping Lobi Stars F.C of Makurdi when both sides meet in a Match Day 26, NPFL 2023/2024 fixture slated for the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on Sunday, March 17, 2024.
The Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu tutored side is targeting the maximum points at stake as well as keep their unbeaten run that is already seven with five wins, two draws, and conceding only once in these number of games since the start of the second stanza.
In the reverse fixture that happened inside the Lafia City Stadium on November 2, 2023, it ended 2-1 in favor of the Coach Eugene Agagbe tutored side with Stanley Ogabor snatching a late winner after Chidiebere Nwobodo had earlier cancelled out Alao Danbani’ opening goal.
The Enugu side is spoilt for choices with the return of the duo of Isaac Saviour and Kalu Nweke from long injury layoff to lay claim for a place in the squad that may have some of the well rested regulars that missed the midweek encounter in Kano coming back to defend the badges of the Coal City landlords.
Midfield maestro, Chinemerem Ugwueze, who has been in fine form since the start of the second stanza, said, “We expect a tough encounter against Lobi Stars, who are currently topping the table. They are a good side but we shall play our game with our target remaining annexing all the three points at stake to help us close the gap between us and them.
“Our fans should expect nothing less than a victory because we all know what is at stake. The players are prepared both physically, mentally and psychologically. We are coming all out to get the three points just as we would not want to end our unbeaten run too soon; not in our home ground.
“We’re positive going into the match and we hope for a positive result.”
Heading into this match , Rangers is occupying the third spot on the twenty team log with 42 points from 25 matches while the visitors, Lobi Stars are at the top of the log with 46 points from the same number of matches.
