Africano FC Gets Inspiration From Showers of Blessing To Win First Friendly

By Joseph Odoekwu
Africano FC Nigeria won her first ever friendly game on Wednesday despite early light showers which affected play at the National Institute For Sports pitch inside the National Stadium at Surulere, Lagos.
The match which was played under the rainy conditions against Sportsellectual FC of Ikorodu saw the Brazilian affiliates outclass the visiting side with a 2-0 home win while many concluded that the showers inspired the Ifa Boys to victory.
Two goals from both halves gave the Ifa Boys a deserved home win, with their first goal coming through a spot-kick when Ayo-ola Ajose was brought down in the 18-yard-box and Amusa Quadri sent the goalkeeper the wrong direction to score a goal which cheered the home side.
The second goal which came in the second half courtesy of Onyeka Daniel’s strike from outside the 18-yard-box after he took a shot that caught the goalkeeper by surprise increased their lead and sealed their win.
The win means the Ifa Boys have started their campaign on a positive note with club President, Rev. Samuel Ikpea expressing delight over the win after watching the entire duration of the game.
“It is a beautiful way to start, we thank tGod they played to win and no injury was recorded”. “We will be looking forward to our next game as we continue to prepare the boys for a more competitive tournament” Ikpea ended.
