NSC Chairman, Ikpea Preaches Peace Ahead 65th Independence Celebration
.. Club To Induct 60 New Members
As Nigerians prepare to mark the 65th independence celebration of the country, National Chairman of Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Ambassador. Samuel Ikpea has called for peace and unity amongst the citizens even as he felicitated with all Nigerians for witnessing the 65th anniversary of the country’s statehood.
In a press conference held in Lagos, Reverend Ikpea, emphasized that unity of purpose remains the only way to overcome the country’s challenges, urgiing Nigerians to remain steadfast and live with love, unity and peace inorder to move the country forward
” I want to personally congratulate Nigerians as they prepare to celebrate the country’s 65th independence tomorrow . The celebration calls for sober reflection and unity of purpose amongst the citizens inorder to build a society all of us will be proud off.
” As we celebrate this year’s independence in remembrance of when the Union Jack of our former Colonial Masters, Britain was lowered and replaced with the Green White Green flag, it’s important we live in love and unity, be patriotic and avoid anything that will paint the country black.
““Though the nation is grabbling with a lot of challenges, but the best we can do is to get involved mentally and practically by projecting Nigeria positively and making meaningful contributions in our little corners.
“Building a nation requires collective effort. While constructive criticism is healthy, mere condemnation and lamentations will not help. We must all unite mentally and physically to build a better country”, he enthusied.
The NFSC Chairman noted that the Federal Government’s theme for the anniversary, “Nigeria @65: All Hands on Deck for a Greater Nation,” is apt and reflective of current realities.
“This time is a reminder that we must all put aside our differences and work together whether government, private sector, civil society organizations, sports stakeholders, and citizens, to build a Nigeria of peace, prosperity, progress and unity”, he stressed
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Supporters Club has planned series of activities for the Independence Day celebration.
According to the foremost sports Supporters Club in the country, the celebration will kick off tomorrow morning with an Independence Day Walk which will kickoff at Surulere,passing through National Stadium, Shitta and Ojuelegba areas of Lagos State..
After the health walk,the club will host a grand anniversary party at its Funsho Williams Avenue National Headquarters, where about 60 new members will be formally inducted.
