NSC Thumbs Up Mbata’s Performance At World Boxing Cup
National Sports Commission ( NSC) have commended the participation of Nigeria’s boxer Patricia Mbata at the 2025 World Boxing Cup Finals in Greater Noida, India.
Mbata competed in the Women’s 70 kg division against one of the world’s best and represented the nation with dedication.
NSC noted that although the bout ended with a unanimous decision in favour of her Uzbek opponent, Mbata’s presence at the global competition underscores Nigeria’s ambition to expand its representation on the world boxing stage.
Media reports identify her as possibly the sole African competitor at the event, reinforcing the significance of her role as a continental torch-bearer.
The statement noted that the NSC remains committed to providing full support, training, and exposure for Nigerian female boxers as part of it’s strategic focus on elevating performance and broadening the country’s global footprint in the sport.
