NULGE to Uzodimma: Your infrastructure renewal in Imo speaks volumes

The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has told Governor Hope Uzodimma that his infrastructure renewal in Imo State is second to none and speaks volumes about his leadership commitment.

They spoke weekend at the Government House Owerri when they paid a courtesy call on the Governor, fall out of the Imo State NULGE Chapter’s Pacesetter Award given to Uzodimma on Friday, March 6, 2026.

Led by National Treasurer of NULGE, Comrade Zico Okwudi who stood in for the President General of NULGE, Comrade Aliyu Haruna Kankara, the LG workers’ Union said they had the opportunity to go round Imo State in the course of their visit, and that they were stunned by the level of infrastructure in place in different sectors of the Imo economy.

Okwudi said based on what they saw in terms of work done, “Uzodimma is obviously the best Governor in the South East and South South.”

“Your Excellency, we went around the State. We saw the things you have done in infrastructure. We are not just impressed, but you are deservedly the best best Governor in the South East and South South.

“You have brought Owerri back to its past glory when we used to come here for all sorts of conferences and seminars, and I sure our members have taken note.”

He again congratulated Governor Uzodimma for the Pacesetter Award he was given by the Local Government Employees and noted that it was well deserved.

In his remarks, Uzodimma reminded the NULGE national leadership that he was not just deeply delighted about their visit and the honour, but has always believed that government and the Labour must work together in harmony to serve the society better.

He said that the relationship between the government and Labour ought to be reciprocal with mutual respect as the guiding principle as espoused in the different International Conventions on Labour which the government entered into.

Uzodimma said government appreciates what those working for her do, even though it has the power to hire and fire which the Labour Unions don’t have.

He appealed to the NULGE leadership and Labour Unions in particular not to see themselves as an alternative to government, but rather, partners in progress with government.

The Governor also pledged to continue to work with the Unions, and to support them in their desire to seek for better welfare of workers.

The Governor was joined in receiving the national NULGE leadership by the Chief of Staff Barr Nnamdi Anyaehie, the Deputy Chief of Staff Special Duties, Chief Ferdinand Uzodimma, the Head of Service, Mrs Chinelo Emenalo, the Principal Secretary to the Governor, and Dr Irene Chima.
