NUSA mobilizes support for Super Eagles ahead Sept. 9 showdown against Bafana Bafana

The leadership of the Nigerian community in South Africa has on Sunday said it was mobilizing support for the Super Eagles ahead of the team’s highly anticipated FIFA World Cup qualifying clash with their South Africa counterparts Bafana Bafana.

The crucial Group C encounter is scheduled to take place on Sept. 9, 2025, at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa.

The effort was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by Mr Smart Nwobi and Akindele Olunloyo, President and National Publicity Secretary of Nigerian Union South Africa (NUSA), the umbrella body representing Nigerians in South Africa.

The statement said the leadership of the NUSA would be visiting Bloemfontein ahead of the encounter to mobilise support for the national team.

“The leadership of NUSA will visit Bloemfontein ahead of this crucial World Cup qualifier to mobilize our people residing in the city,’’ Nwobi said, adding that “This game is important for our country, and we want Nigerians to come out en masse to support the Super Eagles.’’

Nwobi, a lawyer further emphasised that NUSA’s national leadership will work closely with the Bloemfontein chapter to engage Nigerians living in the city at least a week before the match.

“We will also inform Nigerians to be law-abiding before and after the game. It is important that we maintain discipline at all times in any part of South Africa,’’ he said.

The NUSA president assured that the Super Eagles could count on the unwavering support of Nigerians across South Africa when they take on Bafana Bafana.

He also recalled the strong turnout of Nigerian supporters earlier this year when the country’s U-17 women’s national team faced South Africa in March, a match in which the young Flamingoes emerged victorious.
