Nwajiuba, group distribute food items to indigent citizens

Erstwhile Minister of Education (State), Hon. Chukwurmeka Nwajiuba in partnership with Young Nigerian Voices, YNV, on Easter Sunday rounded off the distribution of palliatives to indigent Christians and Muslims to enable them join other faithful to celebrate this year’s Easter and Eid l’Fitr celebrations.
Presenting the palliatives during the grand finale at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish, Umuduruegbeaku, in Onuimo LGA, of the State, the National Publicity Secretary of the organization, Chigozie Igbo Jnr, disclosed that they has successfully distributed over 5,000 bags of rice and 2,000KG of corn during the period.
Igbo who hinted that the Young Nigerian Voices is a non-governmental organization, NGO, working in collaboration with the former minister with the aim of alleviating the rate of hunger occasioned by the current economic hardship.
He described Hon. Nwajiuba as a detribalized and humane Nigerian who is genuinely concerned about the plight of the downtrodden in the country.
His words, “The objective of the outreach was to provide relief to vulnerable Christian communities across Nigeria, foster a sense of unity and support among Nigerians, and encourage collective effort for sustained faith in Christians across Nigeria.
“The palliatives distribution started in Zango, Kaduna State, with the official flag-off by the National Coordinator of Young Nigerian Voices, Mallam A.A. Usman, the National Secretary, Prince Richard, and the Kaduna State Coordinator, Hon. Muhammad Saeed Muhammad.
“The food items were distributed to various churches across the states and FCT. The distribution at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Parish Umuduruegbeaku, Onuimo LGA in Imo State, this Easter Sunday serves as the grand finale.
“It’s however petinent to note that as Nigerians face economic challenges, it’s essential to come together and support one another. This initiative from Young Nigerian Voices and Hon. Barr. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, is a step towards making significant difference in the lives of our Christian brethren.”
“We believe that every Nigerian deserves to celebrate the Easter season with dignity. Our goal as an organization is to provide relief and share love with those in need at this time of economic hardship.”
In his speech at the occasion, the Imo State Coordinator of the NGO, Chika Emedo, harped on the commitment of his group and the former minister towards alleviating the plight of the poor and urged Nigerians not to despair in the face of the current hardship.
Responding, Parish Priest of the Church, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Ekeoma, appreciated the gesture by thanking Hon. Nwajiuba and the organization for the food items donated pointing out that it will go a long way to cushion the hunger facing many vulnerable families.
Ekeoma used the opportunity to enjoin other leaders and networth individuals in the society to emulate the politician by making it a priority to always support the needy in society.
