Victor Ikpeba Warri 5-A-side: LOC expands participating teams to 24

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 5th edition of Victor Ikpeba 5-A-side in Warri, Delta State, has announced an increase in the number of participating teams from 16 to 24.

This decision follows a surge in interest and appeals from more teams to participate, exceeding the initial target.
The plan, as originally publicized, was to have only 8 teams, but appeal and advice by interested stakeholders forced an expansion of the tournament to 16 teams. It is hoped that this new development will make the competition swift and intense.

A member of the LOC explained the development.

“Immediately we completed the 4th edition, Victor Ikpeba said we were going to cut down on the number of teams, and that was why the early announcements and publications this period stated eight teams. But immediately, we brought out the forms we already had, more than 10 teams on the ground, with others pushing.

“You know it is a fun period of Christmas, and it is football. We just had to adjust the schedule. It was a tough decision, but we just had to do so.”

The Victor Ikpeba 5-A-Side Football Challenge is scheduled to take place from December 18th to 20th, 2025, in Warri, Delta State.
