The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi has hosted the Iwo born Universal Boxing Organization (UBO) African Light-Heavyweight Champion, Idowu ‘ID Burster’ Rasheed in his palace along with the leadership of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C) following the boxer’s decoration with his UBO belt.
Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi was full of gratitude to the President of NBB of C Dr. Rafiu Oladipo and the Secretary General of the body Remi Aboderin for their efforts in ensuring justice for ID Burster who went to Ghana to defeat the more experinced Bastie Samir in a vacant Universal Boxing Organization title belt held on Saturday, April 13th at Kawukudi Park Nima, in Accra, Ghana.

The Ghanaian officials attempted to rob ID Burster of his victory after knocking down his opponent in round two but the officials of the NBB of C protested by calling the attention of the professional boxing body that sanctioned the fight, UBO who intervened and justice was done by declaring the Nigerian boxer winner of the fight, hence the UBO belt was subsequently sent to Nigeria for presentation to him.

Oluwo also applauded the Francis Aiyegbeni Boxing Club that is being managed by the duagther of the late famous Boxing Promoter, Edna Bola Aiyegbeni for producing ‘ID Burster’ and many other talented top boxers, while promising to creat more secured and enabling environment where sports and other youths oriented programmes will strive in Iwoland.

Oba Abdulrasheed, the Telu 1 however appreciated the efforts of Oyo State branch of NBB of C under the leadership of Hon. Gbenga Opaleye in developing proffesional boxing in the state with many positive results to show for the efforts; saying they should beam their searchlight to Iwoland for more boxing talents.

“What Rasheed ID Buster achieved in far away Ghana is a testimony of the resilient spirit of an average Iwo person who are resilient when they are able to call forth their inner strength to positively meet challenges, manage adversities, goals and circumstances.” the highly respected traditional ruler said.
