Ondo Governor, Aiyedatiwa Pledges Full Support for Sunshine Stars, Queens’ Return to Topflight Football

Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has pledged his administration’s full support to ensure Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens football clubs return to Nigeria’s elite football leagues in the shortest possible time.
Governor Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance while receiving members of the victorious Super Falcons team of Ondo origin at the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka, Akure.
The governor also urged stakeholders in the state’s football sector to re-strategize and show renewed commitment, assuring them of his administration’s readiness to provide all necessary support for a quick return to the Nigerian premier football league (NPFL) and the Nigeria Women football league (NWFL).
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the recent relegation of both teams as a big lesson for their managements, emphasizing the need to learn, relearn, and rebuild a stronger and more competitive squads
However,he reaffirmed his commitment to completing the ongoing renovation of the Ondo State Sports Complex to meet modern standards, thereby boosting sports development across the state.
Sunshine stars football club will participate in the Nigeria national league (NNL) to gain promotion back to the premiership while Sunshine Queens FC are to participate in the championship playoff to gain promotion to the women’s elite league in Nigeria.
