Oriade LCDA pledges support for NSC

The Chairperson of the Oriade Local Community Development Association, Alhaja Ramota Hassan at the weekend pledged to contribute to the development of watersports in Nigeria.

Alhaja Hassan, who incidentally was making her first appearance at the Navy Sailing Club stated that she is impressed with the array of children involved with watersports.
While commending the Club Commodore Citizen Tunde Giwa-Daramola and his management team for keeping the youths engaged, she admitted that she is drawn to giving her little contribution to the club as a way of encouraging other youths to be active in sports.
“The Navy Sailing Club is the place to be for all especially the children because it provides the right atmosphere for training of athletes as well as being an ideal relaxation spot. The waterfront is a beauty to behold and only those who value and appreciate this facility will understand its value.
As a way of keeping the teeming youth within and around the Oriade LCDA, Alhaja Hassan noted that she would help spread the word and encourage the youths to take advantage of the proximity of the Navy Sailing Club by registering as athletes or even members.
In his remarks, Club Commodore of the Navy Sailing Club, Citizen Tunde Giwa-Daramola noted that the management is ready to join forces with the LCDA on ways of furthering a cordial working relationship.
“As a Club, we thank you for finding time out of your very busy schedule to be here with us for the 4th FOC West Boat Race and look forward to working with you in the promotion of watersports in this area. When the youths are engaged positively, a lot can be achieved.”
Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 4th FOC West Boat Race, Chief Simon Maiyaki expressed joy for her acceptance of the club’s invitation.
“I wish to thank the Oriade LCDA Chairperson for honouring our invitation. Her presence at this race says a lot about her love for sports and the general wellness of those within the LCDA. The Navy Sailing Club is a place that provides the basic training opportunities children to learn how to swim, interact and become a competitor too. We encourage her to bring her people to benefit from what the club provides.”
The 4th FOC West Boat Race had over 30 athletes in attendance giving their best as the President of the Nigeria Rowing, Canoe and Sailing Federation, Rear Admiral FBI Porbeni (Rtd) watched with keen interest.
